We flew into Tanzania and were greeted by Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was a beautiful view in the early evening.
We stayed the night in Arusha at the lovely Arusha Hotel. There is a clock tower right by the hotel that marks the midpoint (north to south) of Africa. Alex and Cam arrived and our safari group was ready to go!
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions – though we didn’t see any – on the ground, or in the trees. But we did see our first giraffe & warthog on this day, as well as monkeys (they call them blackface monkeys, but I refuse), baboons, elephants, hippos, zebras and even a chameleon.
