On the last day of our safari - we visited the Tarangire National Park. Now, Fortes Safaris didn’t originally put this on our itinerary but I asked them to when I read that it was under-rated. Well apparently Fortes knew what they were doing because it’s totally the wrong season to visit the park. Since it’s wet season and there is high grass - all the grazers (who prefer short grass so that they can spot their predators) aren’t present, and in turn the cats who hunt them aren’t either. Even still we did some birding, had some close encounters with a couple herds of elephants and some giraffe, too. As we were turning the car around to head back to the lodge Will yelled out “Lion!” which for the most part on this trip meant warthog, but there she was - a lone lion. She was a bit skinnier and apparently somehow got separated from her pride. It was another lucky moment for the four of us.
then we went back to the hotel...for some pool time...
