when you're in the northeast of iceland, you don't even feel like you're on earth anymore. one of the most interesting (and stinkiest - because of the sulfur) places is Námaskarð Pass:
then we got to the lake and stopped at the the Dimmuborgir lava maze and walked around the place where they believe Satan landed when he fell from heaven
then on the other side of the lake where the lunar-like pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir - i'm still unclear on what a pseudo-crater is, but here's a picture of a couple:
